Bereavement Care

South Valley Hospice guides and helps the bereaved.

Bereavement care is the time of mourning after a loss. The South Valley Hospice works with surviving loved ones to help them through the grieving process. A trained volunteer, clergy member, or professional counselor provides support and counseling to survivors through support groups and workshops, visits, phone calls, regular mailings of self-help materials, and other means of contact. Often times we work with families to understand their feelings by:

  • Providing general information about grief and loss
  • Answering questions and helping you find your own answers
  • Listening to your feelings and stories of your loss
  • Being a caring and reassuring presence

South Valley Hospice provides bereavement care for up to a year after your loved one's passing. If we find that family members and care-giving friends need additional support, the hospice team can refer other medical or professional care.
